Brockport is one of the ports of call of the Heartland Passage Tour - a unique, free performance event that will travel the Erie Canal from September 2 to 23 to celebrate its bicentennial.
The stop at Brockport is one of ten statewide and includes music and storytelling by Dave Ruch and George Ward and a screening of Boom and Bust: America's Journey on the Erie Canal, a short documentary by Academy Award winning independent filmmaker Paul Wagner.
Brockport's stop will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 15 at the Brockport Welcome Center, 11 Water Street on the canal. The rain location is St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 14 State Street.
Other places the tour is stopping include: Brooklyn, Albany, Rochester and Buffalo.
The tour is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and a Regional Economic Development Grant through the New York State Council on the Arts.
It is sponsored by City Lore, the Erie Canal Museum and Livingston Arts.
